Ludwig 1961 Super Classic Snare Drum

Loading...

I've always liked the look of these snare drums! Finally found one on eBay that was in really nice condition...with the original wires, too! The Resocoat interior is stamped "APR 6 - 1961" and even the inside of the Classic strainer has "4-61" written in black ink. The drum was completely taken apart and a full detailing was done. My cleaning process turned the lug inserts into a beautiful brass color. They look nice against the chrome tension rods...not that you can really see them! I'm very happy with the evenly faded WMP. The COB hoops are beautiful! I'm really pleased with my new Super Classic!

Thanks for the compliments! Yes, no extra holes! The muffler knob is the smaller 3/4", of the same style used on the Acrolite and Standard series. Here are some more closeup pictures.

The worst part was the metal muffler disc, which was really corroded. It cleaned up great! The lug mounting screws were also in bad shape, so I swapped them out for very clean, period correct, Ludwig screws I had.

Thanks for the pics.

Those muffler disks seem to pick up all the moisture and then.....rust.

Great looking drum and restoration.
