Ludwig 18" x 16" Black Cortex Floor Tom

Rare Ludwig 18” x 16” 1970’s Black Cortex Floor Tom Drum.

Blue / Olive Badge Serial # 2012348, which dates this at, I believe, 1979.

18” diameter x 16” depth…8 lugs per head, 16 total.

6 ply Maple with no re-rings.

Black Cortex wrap is in good condition with a few scrapes, scratches and some small paint splatter which can be removed with some cleaner... Wrap seam has lifted, and slightly cracked (See pic), but just needs some good glue to repair.

Lugs are in Very Good Condition, as well as the hoops and leg mounts. Legs are good.

Internal muffler is original and works perfectly.

Very Rare sized Ludwig drum. A Must Have for any Bonham Kit.

Similar items just sold for $255 to $315 + shipping. Looking to get somewhere near that...Maybe $275 or B/O + actual shipping.

From the sound of it, I first thought they were shells made of particle board or some other man made material.

That just couldn't be right from Ludwig.

I've just spent about 30 minutes trying to upload pics of the Ludwig legs that will come with this drum...Not happening.

The pics above had generic legs on it while I was cleaning the Ludwig legs.

I believe "Cortex" was just Ludwig's way of saying "Counter-top Laminate"...

But I could be wrong.
