I was wrong, my Kent snare is not luan. So, if anyone has a beat up orphan of a luan drum that I can use for testing let me know. Needs to be cheap. Thanks!

Here's a 14" Royal Star floor tom that came to me with damaged wrap. I removed the wrap and found the Lauan vertical grained wood to be quite nice. I had to make use of the ply wrap ends - diagonally across the drum (a V-shape). I put a stain on part of it and a Martha Stewart Green on the rest. Worked for me but it's a one-off and I'm probably the only person that likes it. The drum sounds great and has all the original hardware as far as I can tell.
