Following Drum Doug's advice, I had six inches cut from the top of the bottom tube of an old WFL stand that I wasn't using. The top cap loosened easily and came off with just a few light taps from a hammer. Next, I took it to my mechanic who cut the section off with a good pipe cutter. Took just a few seconds. I then took my dremel and shaved the burr that was left on the inner surface. The cap went on with no problem with a few taps and the top tube now easily slid into place. The old marcher now sits perfectly into the lowered stand! Thanks to sound advice from Hoppy concerning modifications, the big old snare sounds great! I'm eager to try it out on Sunday when we practice.
