Looking For Information On Rogers Knobby Mounts

Loading...

Hi,

I'm trying to find out if there's any difference between the size of the screws used in Rogers Swiv-O-Matic floor tom mounts as compared to those used in their other Knobby Swiv-O-Matic mounts?

I've seen different sizes being sold on E-Bay and don't understand why?

THANKS in advance for your help!Keep on Pl

I meant to say floor tom leg mounts. Sorry for the confusion!

Yes... there is a difference bewteen the two: The Knobby floor tom mounts use what is called a "Pull Set Screw", and the main difference is in it's length. This particular set screw also functions in the Knobby cymbal mount.

The "regular" Swivo-Matic set screws are shorter at only 3/8"... thus they don't have the "meat" or reach for the floor tom or cymbal mount application.

Appreciate your input, as always!

Here's my situation: I've got a Rogers WMP floor tom from what I believe to be the late 50s (Rogers Eagle Badge). All the original Rogers leg mounts have the correct number of screws (2) and they all function fine.

HOWEVER........... the drum's got four additional Knobby mounts on the upper portion of the drum and two of the four only have one of the two required screws. My assumption is that the prior owner may have used the floor tom in a cocktail type of configuration and used the Knobby mounts to mount a snare, small tom, cymbal and cowbell/block. It's just a guess, but I don't know what other reason there would be for four of these on a floor tom.

I'm looking for the correct screws for those missing from the two Knobby mounts on the upper portion of the drum. If one is used for a cymbal L-arm and another is used to mount a snare drum should I be looking for different size screws?

Any "words of wisdom" would be appreciated!

That sounds like a neat drum!... and if I have understood your query correctly:

I would most certainly use the "Pull Set Screws"... ( the longer ones ) ... as whatever you decide to mount up top on those Knobby's is going to have some weight, ie: cymbal... snare drum... etc. You will want the strength and holding power of the longer "Pull Set Screws". However, if you ARE NOT planning on mounting/holding anything with those Knobby's, the 3/8" Swivo set screws may just have enough reach to get through the cap, and if they do, would certainly be able to hold the cap in place without a problem. Does this help?
