looking for hoop-mounted strainers

Loading...

As I have been working on my old 1930's model NOB snare, I noticed that there were no holes drilled for the strainer, although there is a butt plate on the other side and both sides have the crimped snare bed.

Can anyone help me with what strainer may have been on this drum AND - if there is a suitable replacement made today? If I have to, I will simply mount a newer model, but I really would like to keep it as authentic as possible.

Thanks friends.

Hey vibeguy - I'm a novice and don't know much - But I did some searching and theses forum links may help :

Top of this page has a "Vintage Drum Identification" menu - here's the snare drums link :

http://www.vintagesnaredrums.com/snare_drums.html

and a NOB pic from it :

Maybe that'll help.

...but when he played on his drum, he made the stars explode....
