I love that little drum set made from "mutts". Have you had any trouble finding 17" bass drum heads?
Thanks Howie. Oddly enough you gave me some encouragement several years back when I was first considering a center lug 17"! This one has original late 50's playon plastic heads on it. I use a felt strip on the batter. My 17/12/14 Maple Club Date kit has original calfskin heads on it that a DFO member found for me.

Mike:
What convinced me to like the way you think about vintage drums is that you and I both like the odd ball orphan drums and drum set configurations that most "normal" people wouldn't even consider adopting. Those special needs pound puppies can be the most affectionate and grateful to be given a good home.
Here's one of my previous ones. An orfan-stein kit if you will
14x20 pre serial virgin bass (drilled for nothing, all original) date stamped 1962 (now sold)
16x16 pre serial Galaxy FT (also date stamped 1962) now sold
8x12 Leedy tom in Starlight Sparkle date stamped April 29 1960(still have)
5.5x14 Leedy Reliance snare date stamped 1964 (now sold)
I gigged this kit about 5 times and it always sounded killer.
