Just got through browsing through that 1973 Slingerland catalog looking at the Buddy Rich kit on p.3.....THAT IS NICE.DW has a Finish Ply called 'classic marine' that looks very much like Slingerland's 'marine pearl'. Gonna head down to Explorers Percussion.They have DW color swatches I can look at.PM 2 follow.

If youre still debating what color to make your DWs, man oh man, I think they would look GREAT in that Classic Marine. I'm thinking of buying a MIJ set that looks like the old Slingys and recovering it in that Classic Marine just to see how good it would come out.

Just got done looking at a sample of DW's 'classic marine'. Comparsion to Slingerlands 'marine pearl' almost identical. I'd rather have DW's 'classic pearl' than the lavender-to-pink satin fade finish I wanted(just kidding)
