I sent the Rogers black onyx kit through FedEx, they did all the packing....no words.

JR! Talk about a POOR packing job! So, now what? Even if it was insured, the bass drum is ruined. Did you allow FedEx to pack it, thinking they would do a better job?

I have used them also , but I Stick around and watch them pack it , to make sure it is right !

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I am sickened by this. Such beautiful drums are priceless! All vintage treasures should be handled with extreme care, not tossed around like garbage! I am so sorry that this happened. NOT RIGHT!!!

That was a terrible packing job for sure. I guess that's why I have to pay so much whenever I send a kit or a drum. I make certain I use boxes that allow for another box inside or at least an ample amount of proper packing material(s). The last drum set I sold was the blue sparkle Deluxe Classic complete with everything and it cost me $300 to ship it out via UPS. This was several years ago. But everything arrived to the buyer in perfect condition.
When I received the '69 Jazzette kit in the mail, the Atlas hi hat stand was literally hanging out of the end of the box. It was only by luck that nothing was damaged.

Styrofoam is my shipping pal I use it in the corners in between around wherever there’s a gap but I stopped selling so I don’t ship anymore...

What a bummer. What gets me about FedEx is that certain shops have insisted I open the boxes for their inspection or they wouldn't provide the insurance. When they've done that, I take them to UPS. I never let them open what I've packed.
Like the old saying goes if you want it done right ya gotta do it yourself !
I like UPS over FedEx. I've used them for the 25 items I've sold over the last 3 or 4 years thru Reverb. Cheaper than FedEx and no inspection requirements. I pack it well myself - pay thru Reverb - print the label and drop off at a nearby Staples. Have not had any problems to date.
I've never had any packing problems with either UPS or FedEx- then yesterday my order from Sweetwater came by FedEx. I had them print ATTN:BRING TO BACK DOOR and I was to sign for it. I was looking at my tracking after supper and it said- 'Congratulations! Your order has arrived- signed for by (incorrect name)' I thought- crap- someone else got my order! I went out back- no package- went to the front door (30 feet from the busy street) and it was laying on the sidewalk.... at least I got it before the porch pirates...
Hey guys, FedEx is sending me a check for kit, once I pay buyer he'll return kit to me. The only damage was to the kick shown in pictures. If anyone is interested, I'll sell them cheap. I'm guessing the kick can still be used, anyway, I'll post them once they arrive and btw, I'll do all the packing.LoLoLoLo
