So I came across an ad on CL simply titled " Misc,Ludwig,Slingerland,Pearl " Needless to say it grabbed my attention. Looking at the ad I see the seller has a 30's / 40's Radioking for $150. But It needs a new clamshell strainer / Butt side and looks like someone added a newer basic strainer. Aside the obvious does anything else look to be missing? To me it all seems complete , has the rims, internal tone control, lugs, badge. Figure for $150 it's a steal.

Can't see the butt end side, but this is a no brainer, You can't buy a new solid shell for this price let alone a vintage one, Go get it now.
Calling the guy tomorrow to pay and arrange shipping. He is closer to the Boston area, I'm closer to NYC. So I'll spring the few $$ for shipping as it's likely cheaper than gas, lol. Just need to find the clamshell. Other than the small holes on the newer strainer and butt I don't see any shell damage. Also is that the original finish?

Very nice snare. Don't think the finish is original. But looks nicely redone especially around the badge area. Grommet looks original. You can even rock it as is while you look for a clamshell. Think you'd need the "hooked" snare version of the clam. Experts are standing by and can say for sure. Hit me up if you wanna sell it! :)
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Finding a pair of Super (clamshell) strainers will be extremely hard and expensive. Because there is little left in terms of originality with this drum, it seems to make more sense to leave it as is as a "player". Installing correct pieces will not increase the value much.
That is correct. The drum has already been modded, but a good job. Makes little sense to worry about the cotrect strainer at this point.
