Any idea what this bad boy might be?
Looks pretty heavy duty, Japanese and 80s to me. The person selling it says there are no badges on it.
I know I ave seen those lugs before just can not place them
Those look like CB lugs
you are 100% correct, I checked after you said that and lo and behold that exact drum is on the catalog pages on the vintage drum guide.

Did you buy this snare? It will be worth it to pick it up, if you can. Those are amazing sounding and for 75, it is the deal of the week. That's what I would pay, offer 60. It is CB semi Pro line. Some orchestral drummers used those.
I'll be picking this guy up tomorrow got it for 75. Sweeet I love parallel strainers!

Cool. You will like this drum, even though it is a CB. Try a Fyberskin 3A on it. It tends to mellow these thin steel drums downa bit. I have a very old Star COS that has a huge range and was unruly at times, until I put the FS on it. Now it is mellow as Kentucky Sipping Whiskey.
This is a early production cb700. The badge originally would have said "International" on it. This came out when CB was trying to compete with the other big companies and they had to make a good well built quality sounding snare. I had one of these before and it sounded awesome. It was a heavy snare. For $75.00 thats a good deal.
So I bought her, brought her home cleaned her up. She cleans up pretty nice, I would take her home to mom haha.
This drum won't unseat my Super Sound King as my favorite metal snare, but for 75 bucks with a snare stand, it was a deal and a half if you ask me. Very nice drum! And my first MIJ piece.

Good for you! Now, if you really want to get it sounding much better, try a fyberskin3A on it...it will make a big difference. This is my new best friend on these COS MIJ snares for mellowing them out and opening up the range from huge to OMG!

I honestly don't know how much I want to mellow this snare out. It has Genera G1 coated over a Evans hazy snare side and I'm not getting that much in terms of overtones. I mean there is a little ring but not even enough that I need to use any muffling on it.
