I have a cousin....

Lyon@Healy New Decade.... about 1918 or so.... verrry thin brass shell

And foolishly sold another three years ago, I never got the model, but it is from about 1902, with a nice birdseye maple shell.

Lyon@Healy is one of my favourite "old time" musical instrument production companies.

back_beat,

Yeah the shell is super thin, there are some cracks inside where it was bent to create the bearing edge. I would guess is is 1mm or less.

kevins,

I love the wood hoops on those drums. Is your brass shell cracked anywhere?

Long time no posts but here is the finished restore. I will likely store the snares that came with the drum and buy some new snares sometime soon. Still not sure if I will play it or simply use it for display.

Really nice job! Were you able to reuse the label/tag or did you just save it as is?

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

FFR428

I got the label damp, smoothed it out, and put it in a book to dry and it looks great. I just need to figure out what kind of adhesive to use when gluing it back in.

I'd use RC56 Canopy Glue. It dries clear, water clean up and will stick to anything.

Easy to apply and cleans up with water (damp rag) while wet.

Available at your local hobby store or online.

Drum looks great! Play it!!!!!
