Like to understand my Slingerland set before I sell

Loading...

I bought my Slingerland set when I was waaaay younger. Played for several years. Then they have sat for 15+ years. I now would like to sell them but don't have a clue to their value. I have checked through the badges pages and it doesn't quite fit the serial chart. Or maybe I'm reading them wrong, but they are 5 digit numbers which I really not understanding the history, their age, or their worth.

So bottom line I'd like a ball park figure or range if possible please. Then I'll do some minor clean-up and put them up for sale. Thanks for any help. Kevin

Do you have the rest of the hoops and t-rods? That will make a rather big difference in your selling price, possibly as much as 150...

Also, is all the hardware and cymbals going with them? That will make a difference. If so, you will need to list those, maker, sizes etc....

Welcome! and very nice kit!

Agree with these two gents. They are spot on. The kit should be from about 71. The finish is mahogany, but it's an interesting specimen. I've never seen the mahogany with the rough ridges like yours. It's always been rather smooth on the other kits I've come across. Yours seems to have ridges and pits and such. That's more of a later Slingerland feature of the wood finishes. Nice matched kit. If I wasn't looking for a 12 and a 16, I'd say they're worth more. But, since I'm looking for those two drums, I'd say your kit is worth approximately what those two drums are worth. ...and I happen to have that much money in this pocket right here.

Do some research on ebay and the web prior to checking here. That way, you don't get taken by schmucks like me who want your two toms.

oh....and welcome.

Wow, fast responses. Yes, I do have the other hoops and bolts. Not sure what a t-rod is. I'll look into it.

Yea, the grain of the wood is a bit open. But then again it seems normal. Have not seen a smooth wood Slingerland up close. That's my limited experience.

The cymbals are Zildjian. One of them does have a crack.

Gotta run right now, but later I'll come back with more info.

The whole thing is gonna go... except maybe the stool.

I really appreciate the quick honest info and advice.

oh, and thanks for the welcome.

The T-rods, or tension rods, are the bolts that hold all the hoops on. Just easier to type, unless you're me, and have a stupid, slightly over-sized Dell keyboard on you laptop, in which case nothing is easy to type, because the spread is too large...Stupid engineers.

As I posted earlier I have...

22" Base - 74527

16" Floor - 79565

13" Tom - 61532

12" Tom - 73314

Snare (All Chrome) - 74586

I have a 18" and 20" cymbal. There is no brand on them so I don't know what I have. The 18" has a crack.

I have the stands for the cymbals.

Also I have all the hoops and T-rods.

a Slingerland wooden drum peddle.

I need to clean up a few more of the pieces, but it's just about near ready to sell. I'll start checking ebay as suggested and craigslist.

Those shells are mahogany, not just a mahogany stain.
