Hi guys, was watching a DVD of the 80's film "the Right Stuff' and noticed that Levon Helm is in it. Anybody know how this come to be or if appeared in any other films,etc etc.

He acted in several movies. The most recent one I know of is "Shooter," the one where Mark Wahlberg is a former Marine Corps sniper who is framed for trying to snipe the president.

On a similar note, just saw a few clips from The Last Waltz and thought Helm was awesome. I don't know much about him. He always did vocals from behind the kit, correct? He was never out front?

He played mandolin and guitar as well. I've seen a photo or two of him singing while playing those instruments. So, not always behind the kit.

I sing "The Weight" from behind the kit in our band. Always as a tribute to the man... Levon!! People say my voice is the right amount of "unique ". :). I think that is a compliment". :)
