Hi all, I am going to see a 1958 Leedy kit. 20,12 ,14x14, 5x14 in light blue pearl. Shelley Man Hi-Hat, Leedy snare stand and cymbal stand. WFL Speed King Pedal.Original Leedy calf heads top and bottom except the snare has a Leedy plastic head on the bottom. Supposedly in beautiful shape,no lifting of seams, some acne but no pitting.Slight fading. Stick-saver hoops.

What would be a fair price to present? If in great shape not museum quality.

Of course pics if I can get some when I see it.

Ed - you put us in an awkward position. How can anyone guess-timate the value of any kit sight unseen?

If it's in real nice shape, you could offer anywhere from $450.00 to $1000.00 all depending on condition. For real-estate guys it's; location, location, location. For drum buyers it all about, condition, condition, condition. Without any photos at all to go by, all anyone can do is throw a dart at the wall and 'guess' value.

Sounds like an awesome old kit. Hope you get it. Please post photos if you do.

Yes I know, pics or it never happened. I am unsure of Leedy pricing at all thats why I asked for ballpark sight unseen. I can't seem to find any completed sales on Ebay now or any info on pricing with my searches.

I should have some pics in a few days. I just didn't want to offer a low or highball price. The guy isn't sure what he has value wise either. Thanks for the response.

If nobody is sure... then offer him $450.00 to start (fair starting price) and see how he comes back at you. You're both big boys, I'm sure if you throw a number at him, you'll both be able to negotiate your way to an equitable price for both parties. There's always a number that makes everybody in the deal happy. Look for it.

I hope you score the kit. 58' Leedy's don't grow on trees.

Here are some pics I got from the Leedy kit.20,12,14,matching snare. Leedy hat stand and snare stand.WFL bass pedal. I went to see it and took a bottom head off the rack tom and there was some mild ply separation and some in the ring. Easily fixed but would diminish the cost I would assume.I also assume the same for the other drums.

The fade is uniform all around on each drum. Faded from blue to a greenish. No wrap separation, tight on each drum.

3 ply, mahogany, poplar ,mahogany.Maple rerings.Double sided tone controls. Slinger ,Leedy era. Stick savers. The owner is in the music shop business. Its quite a timecapsule. Original Leedy calf heads.

I am wondering what a fair price would be to offer. He thinks its worth the moon.

Thanks Purdie for the info. I offered 800 a few weeks ago. He wants to try to get 2000.So Ebay will be where it will go. He might get lucky and find someone who really needs it. The 14 floor tom is pretty rare. I will post a link if he puts it up on Ebay. He is no hurry to sell. Got it for a song.

Thanks again,Ed

Ed, maybe you can meet him somewhere in the middle if you really want the kit. It's for sure a beauty and LBP wrap looks most excellent. I don't know the first thing about Leedy drums but they sure are nice looking~!

On a seperate subject I see the Speed King has the heel plate loose. My WFL I bought a few months ago came the same way. Then I finally remembered theres a washer w/offset hole and screw that held the heel plate in place. Flipped over the foot plate and sure enough saw the threaded hole. It was buggin me as it took a while to remember what held them in place. LOL

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.
