leedy snare

Loading...

hi folks.

i've just won a leedy snare on e bay.

the description says budget snare, and i won it for £1.10! just because the throw is jammed.

i've seen leedy drums on this forum before, i know i aint got a vintage drum, far from it, just thought i'd see if it was as much of a bargain as i thought it was.

drop a new throw on it, maybe a new wrap?

for a quid, it's worth it i think. i'm getting into this drum getting/restoring/tottering about with thang! really enjoying it!!

Any snare for less than 10 bucks is a good deal. A pound ten is what, less than 2 USD, something like that? And the strainer is likely reparable, but that type strainers is only about 20-25 USD anyway. So, IMO you done alright. That seems to be one of the new Leedy snares from whomever owns the junk rights to the name. Still, a cheap snare is always a neat thing.

Those aren't the same Leedy drums that are made by Gretsch here in the USA. Those are the MIT european market drums......utter crap I'm sad to say.....

i did manage to fix the strainer.

a bit of filing here, and a bit of hammering there, job done.

i agree ludwig dude, it's not the best of drums. very budget.

i noticed that the shell isn't a true circle!!!

i've got it on e bay at the moment, if it doesn't sell, i'm gonna cannibalise it for my 12"x4" popcorn snares i'm trying out.

any ideas for a name, seeing as popcorn is being used already. so is firecracker. i'm thinking poppolo? or maybe a whipcrack?

i'll keep y'all posted on my progress with pics.

thanx peeps
