Hy VDF Buddys:-)

just looked at this Leedy Snare, but not sure if its real?

The owner says its build 1943, can someone confirm, or at least tell me something about that drum?

That looks like a Leedy Broadway to me, if it's 1943 it will be 3 ply, the hoops have lost a lot of the nickel plating showing the brass, it should be stamped inside with the date.

Leedy Broadways are one of my favourite snares, nice drum

Judging from the badge I'd guess mid-late 40's (www.vintagedrumguide.com/leedy_badges.html). Also see www.vintagedrumguide.com/leedy_snare_page.html#, scan down to a 1946 Leedy snare.

It appears to be a standard 6.5 x 14" shell stripped of its original wrap and rather crudely refinished. The chrome (or nickel) plating has been removed from the hoops. Lacking details, it's impossible to ascertain type or condition of the strainer and butt. The Leedy Broadway had snare bridges to accommodate an extended wire set.

All in all, I'd say a rather bad deal.

These are Leedy & Ludwig 'Broadway Standards' from the early 50s... a 5.5" and a 6'5"... essentially the same drums as the earlier (pre-Ludwig) Leedy Broadway Standards.
