Leedy Question

Anyone know where I can get a Leedy Parallel strainer for a 1941 model? Or, can someone post a pic of an original?

Thanks,

Mike

I don't have a picture but the following information may prove helpful.

The first version of the Broadway Parallel, introduced in 1930, did not have individually adjustable snares. It used gut or silk and steel snares which had to be strung individually through the strainer mechanism. The throw-off was engaged by pulling a lever away from the drum shell.

In 1933, Leedy introduced a second version of the Broadway Parallel. The throw-off was engaged and disengaged by pulling a lever from side to side. However, the snares were still not individually adjustable. Rather, they were "spring tensioned."

In 1939, Leedy introduced the third version of the Broadway Parallel. Version three introduced individually adjustable snares. Unlike Ludwig, which placed all ten adjusters at one end, Leedy's version three placed five adjusters at one end and five at the opposite end. The ten strand snares were available in coiled wire, silk wire wound and gut. The Leedy individually adjustable snare mechanism was discontinued with the onslaught of World War II.
