Leedy Marching/Field Drums

Does anybody have a guess how much these are worth? The story is in this thread:

http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=14514

The Snare is 15 x 12, the Tenor is 18 x 12. They appear to be from 1936. Click on images to see full size or click link in thread above to see all the pics I have (over 50). All the hardware is original with the exception of a couple screws/washers. I have the calfskins that I found them with, but they are trashed. The chrome is as beat up as you'd expect 74-year old marching drums to be (looks OK from 5 feet). Shells are nice... most dents and dings came out, but a couple deep ones remain. They only add character ;)

Go ahead, be honest...

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the reply. These took a lot of stripping/steaming/polishing to get to where they are now. See the thumbnail pics below for how they started.

I've never seen a tenor tom either, that's why I found this forum to see if anyone else has...Help2 It's hard to believe these two drums have stayed together for 74 years. I had entertained the thought of selling them seperately, but when I found out they were made together, I changed my mind.

All pics are here:

Marching drums are funny in the market....they are historical, yet don't seem to be worth as much as "outfit" or drumkit drums are. I sold a 1952 Leedy & Ludwig marching drum last year that I restored (it was a white pearl wrap as opposed to a natural wood) and if I remember correctly the most I got for it was $175.00 I pretty much broke even.

I'm currently restoring a Ludwig & Ludwig marching drum from the 1920's and I'm not even sure how much that will go for....probably around the same I hate to say. Do they have siginificant historical value? Yes. Are they rare? In some cases, like yours, yes. Valuable monitarily? Only the market will dictate that at the moment......
