This made me curious, so I just checked the two '30s Leedy drums in my collection. I have a gold sparkle one with gold hardware (5 x 14)...that one has a badge that says Leedy Elhart, but no "USA."
The interior of that one is painted white, and there's no date stamp.
The other one is black lacquer with full dress diamonds, seen in "other collections" on this site. It has the small "USA" on the badge. The interior, as is common with lacquered Leedys of this and other eras, is un-painted and has a date stamp of 35 (1935)....so, either the USA was added or dropped at some time. If anyone has a later era Leedy drum (maybe split beavertails with the second generation Speedway type strainer, we can see what badge the later drums have and draw a conclusion...
Maybe "Clowndog" from this forum or drumforum.org can chime in, as he has a serious Leedy collection and has noticed different badge and lug differences from serious eras.
