Latest Acquisition - 10 Lug Supreme Snare

Hi All,

Just wanted to share a couple of pics of my latest addition to the ol' snare collection.

It's a 10 lug steel shell Supreme snare, of Star origin, I believe, based on the lugs and snare strainer. There are no dents on the shell and the chrome is awesome condition for 40 odd years. This is only after a light cleanup.

The only issue I've seen so far is the adjustment knob on the snare strainer is loose in the shell, but I don't think it's broken as nothing is rattling around inside the drum. Easy fix either way...

That's a beautiful drum, Bryan! I have a set of Supremes and my snare is identical. In the past, I have used the kit for jobs and when tuned, it sounded quite good. Again, congratulations, sir!

Nice one.

This badge looks like being like brandnew Hmmmm

I know the elder badges of Supreme: So, is this really the genuine one of 30/ 40 years ago?

Hi Ralf. I don't know the 'elder Supreme badge' so I guess I'm not sure. The rest of the drum looks right for the era. It is all Star type hardware, etc. But if someone made another badge,....I guess it's possible. Since @Salty has a set of Supreme's... Salty, are your badges the same?

Hey Skink,

Nice nice snare!! You are likely missing the shell nut that the post is supposed to screw into, just like the Zoomatic design if you have one of those to reference. Some MIJ snares also used that design (use of the shell nut). Sometimes these can be a challenge to find, though, if you are feeling ambitious, you may try to make one.

I bet that would sound like a million bucks!
