Late 70's Black Beauty - for sale?

Loading...

Hi guys. I'm the lucky owner of what I consider to be a very nice late 70's pointed B/O badge Ludwig Black Beauty snare drum (serial 1899874).

To cut a very long story short I'm considering selling her to help fund a project I'm involved with.

Any idea what she might be worth over your guys way? - and is anyone looking for one of these that will also look after it? I know over here in the UK I'm looking at around £800 plus, based on what I've seen sell over here in the last few months.

I bought it about a year or so ago, I changed the skins (Ambassador clear on bottom, Ambassador coated on top) & put puresound snare wires on it. I didn't clean it up (ie polish it etc) because it sounds so great so i left it exactly as it was/is. There is some wear & tear but over all I think its a good example of a 31/32 year old snare drum.

I did also do alot of investigation into the drum on this website!

You can hear the drum here if it helps any [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwYxk5EQ0ko[/ame]

I've also tried to attach a photo.

I'd be interested to know your thoughts/opinions on value etc.

Thanks in advance guys,

Pat.

Yours doesn't looked engraved so 400.00 +/-....engraved would be considerably more...1000.00-1500.00 +.

Just want to say you've nailed the tuning on that, it sounds perfect!

My drum teacher here in the UK is looking for a 14x5 70s BB and he reckons he will have to spend around 800-1000 to get a good one, so I reckon your estimate of 800 for yours sounds about right.

US prices are always lower because the drums are much less rare/sought after over in their country of origin.
