Late 50's early 60's Pearl drums

Loading...

Here is another project set and recent find. An early 4 piece Pearl set, has a chrome snare drum. I haven't opened these up yet to see if there is any date stamp.

I love the BD hoop inlays - 60s MIJ WMP [which is actually clear] over black [hoop colour]. Works so well with the WMP on the shells, which have white paper backing for the wrap.

Nice little kit!

Thanks Mitch! That's right, white paper backing under the wrap.

Curious how much you paid for this kit ?

The same exact kit : 20/14/12 + snare ) in the same finish but with matching snare + some hardware is available here in Japan for $ 115 . Thinking of snagging it .

1963 Gretsch Progressive Jazz Champagne Sparkle
1967 Ludwig Super Classic Oyster Blue Pearl
Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute Burgundy Spkl. bop

$200.00 in it, including the shipping.

I just noticed - you may have some Ludwig claws on the front of that bass drum. Off a marching drum if I'm not mistaken...

$200.00 in it including shipping and matching floor tom - perfect. All the kits I've owned like this sounded quite frankly amazing. Wide open tuned low-ish is how I had them.

Top Hat: I saw that set on EBAY and debated buying it, but I thought the price was a bit high with no snare drum, and that yellowing made me nuts.

You did get the 14 inch FT which is always good to have. Have fun restoring it!
