With calf top/bottom,you can't tune it up too tight like we are used to nowadays........

If tensioned low,it will sound "military".........good for funeral dirges though!Excited

Thats why you only want calf on top to play rock/jazz etc...............

I was at kevin's house the other day, I got to tune and play this Beautiful drum, It does have it's own tone, not Ludwig sounding at all, this drum sounds as good or better than it looks and it looks Awesome !!!..

I will own one of these one day!

I got one Heckuva deal in my opinion on this one in 2011, so what I paid (and I'll never tell) wouldn't help you on a current value at all.

I'd take an uneducated guess at the $600.00 range if it didn't have the replacement top hoop....????

Those snares are vastly underrated. I've got a 6.5, and it's one of the best sounding and most versatile snares I've heard.
