THANKS to all for the comments and positive feedback. VINTAGEMORE2000: I'm sure you realize that my comments regarding the "fun" of setting up and tearing down were sarcastic in nature.JONNISTIX: "I feel your pain!" Although I didn't have to move a B-53 and/or Leslie I did help moving our PA system and some amps up and down the stairs and that was enough "excitement" for me (lol)! As far as the next gig, July is vacation time for most of the band members, but we've got a few lined up for August and September. It should be fun!GGVINTAGE: Thanks for sharing your story. It sounds like you had an awesome time. We actually had a female singer from the audience come up and sing "Stormy Monday" with us last Saturday and man did she nail it. LUDWIGS4LIFE: I can totally relate to ALL of your comments, believe me!EMPIREDRUM: We've currently got lead, rhythm & bass guitars, an organist/keyboard player and drums. Everyone sings but me (thank God!) and we've also got a back-up female vocalist. Right now we're doing mainly "old school" tunes by groups like The Allman Brothers, The Robert Cray Band, Santana, Ray Charles, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ben E. King, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt and the like.MCJNIC: Thanks for your support. The folks on this forum have all been extremely kind and helpful to me from the first day I joined. I truly appreciate the "family" atmosphere. I guess "old guys" like me should be playing "old drums". I must say that the Downbeat kit I used Saturday night really sounded nice. I wasn't really sure which vintage kit I'd take with me but thought that the smaller sizes would be the best due to the space constraints.
Oldschool. absolutely I felt your pain brother!! that is the only part of being a drummer than Isn't fun,the singer comes in with a stupid look on his face while were frantically setting up!! hope you play many many more!band3
OsakaBop -- I probably don't have another 30 years left in me! Apparently we will be asked back based on what my lead guitarist is telling me. If so, the fun continues!
Another item on my personal "bucket list" is a little stand-up comedy. I hope that my playing wasn't so poor last Saturday that some folks thought I was already trying that out!crying2-07
