Wayne - what a nice dad !

My Gladstone Drum

I've been emailing Arnie back and forth for a couple of weeks. I ordered one of his Gladstone drums.

I opted for a Joe Migliaccio 3ply shell. Joe's building them just like the Gretsch 3plys of back-in-the-day. I've ordered a 7x14 shell - mine will be Joe's first 7" shell.

I was a little bit hesitant about opting for the Gold hardware at the price of gold these days. But I went for it - it was only a few $100 and in the scope of things - given how much this drum means to me - it's really not that much more. It will look good against the Cadillac (or close to it) Green lacquer finish I've decided on.

A Classic Gretsch/Gladstone look.

UPDATE:

I got an email from Arnie Lang saying Joe Miglianccio is having the 7 inch form for the 3ply shell built. Up until now Joe did not offer 3ply in a 7" shell.

So....it's coming together:Santa:

Wow! I can't wait to see pics of this drum. I met Arnie Lang many years ago at a PASIC when he first started making his Gladstone drums. Nice guy who continues to honor the memory of Billy Gladstone.

I didn't know what a PASIC was until I looked it up a few minutes ago. I will sure to be reading more about it - good stuff!

Even though my drum is not a "Vintage" drum I will....if folks don't mind....post some photos of the drum when I receive it.

It sort of qualifys as Vintage because of the Gladstone hardware and the Joe Migliaccio 3ply shell he's making to "the original specs of the old Gretsch shells from the 30s: outer and inner plys of maple with a poplar center."
