Krupa RK Rewrap...

Loading...

Hey all! Good to finally post here.

So I have a 1938 Slingerland Radio King Krupa snare but the wrap has long been off and it's just in a natural wood finish. I'm considering doing a wrap or lacquer to the drum and would like to do something that is a probably original color. My top two considerations now are gold sparkle or black wrap/lacquer.

For instance: http://www.vintagedrumjunkies.com/snares/snareseng.html at the top of that page is the same year/model snare in black lacquer... looks a little bit too new though! And later down a gold sparkle 1940 RK, not Krupa though.

My question is this: I've done a lot of looking through catalogs and have found all the colors offered by Slingerland during the era, but never specifically for the Krupa snare. I know he only used WMP so is that all that it was offered in, barring a special order?

Thanks in advance! Jesse flowers2

The 1940 catalog shows that the Krupa model was offered in your choice of pearl and duco finishes. See http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/catalogs/slingerland/1940_slingerland_pg4a_large.jpg.

I'm no guru, just a vintage drum junkie!
