Kids Star Drums

Loading...

Earlier today, my wife and I visited an antiques shop in Waterford, Ontario, Canada. To my surprise, I came across a very small bass, maybe sixteen inches, and a attachable tom , perhaps ten inches. Both were wrapped in a very cheap red swirl of some sort. The drums were banged up and missing hardware. What I found interesting however, was the fact that they were badged with the silver, rectangular Star badge from the late sixties. They were overpriced pieces of junk! Even I, as a Star collector, walked away quickly! I never knew Star even made kids' kits. Maybe Ralf or others can shed some light.

I have a Norma small kit much like the Star kits.

Now that's a beautiful little kit! The bass and tom that I saw.........not so much. Thanks very much for sharing and helping to enlighten me!

Hello Brian,

Please, allow me to do some house advertising:

;-)

Indeed, those kits are rare, as they obviously had to stand the drumming attempts of our kiddies (or ourselves at that time ...), and this treatment happened over decades.

Cheers,

Ralf

This Pearl made center lug kit was originally red sparkle

and in very poor condition

My seller re-wrapped them in the green pearl

I thought initially it was a kiddie kit also

But the snare and mounted drum are standard size

the floor tom is a 13" and the bass drum is 18"
