Keystone Badge Club Dates............worth the price?

Loading...

Greetings,

https://www.musicgoround.com/product/columbus-oh/40012-S000222872/used-ludwig-super-classic-drum-kits-red

I was in Columbus over the weekend and took a look at them. They have Keystone badges and white interiors with re-rings. The snare was not date stamped. The tom was stamped December 1966 and the bass drum had non-clear heads and I couldn't see a date through the vent hole.

There is no floor tom and the rail mount is missing the part of the holder that the L-arm secures to. There is quite a bit of rust on the tension rods and hoops.

Do the lugs appear to be nickle or just dingy chrome?

Do you consider this a reasonable price, considering the incomplete tom holder, rust, and lack of a floor tom?

Obviously, red sparkle is a very common wrap, so it wouldn't be too hard to find a matching floor tom I would think, though for a 14" with a Keystone badge, it may be pricey.

What would you say to these?

(I would save the pictures for posterity, but I can't figure out how to save the entire picture, only the "self-zoom" part).

Thanks,

V

If those were close to me, and I had the money, I'd consider them. Even at that price. Looks like maybe a mix of nickel and chrome, but might just need some parts polished. The rail appears to all be there except for the L arm which would be easy to find.

Floor tom can be a b!tch to find. Red sparkle should be an easier one to locate. I've been on that quest twice, once for a gold sparkle club date which one popped up on ebay within a month. The second was a WMP club date, which would seem like it should be easy enough to find, but it took a couple years and cost almost as much as the set you're considering.

I wouldn't buy it for $599 plus $120, the floor is going to cost another $300-400. I've bought complete Club Date kits for much less and in a cooler finish.
