I do not have much experience selling cymbals. So I got these badly keyholed Scimitars and want to sell them. Worth the time? Think anyone would be interested? I suppose there are no fixes for keyholes? If I took the time to sell, are guys here into junk of this caliber? Or should I eBay and at what price to get them outta here. Very thankful for any insight you could share. Dean Help2
Keyholed Scimitars. What to do???
GC has a used 20" Scim listed for $40 in good condition, so what are they worth badly keyholed? You could use them on a practice kit, use them as a "throw-in" if you sell other gear, or just donate them to a music school. But I don't think listing, packing, and shipping them is worth the aggravation for what you're likely to get for them (minus the listing fees).
As stated above, donate them to a school, or better yet, a poor kid who needs cymbals. You'll be helping another human being at a very small cost, as those cymbals are worth practically nothing. Selling them will be more trouble than they're worth.
I really like the donation idea. Thanks for the super advice and saving me time. The caring and knowledgeable guys and gals on this forum are simply the best!
I like the suggestions above. If you want to go a step beyond, get a brass grommet kit from one of the big box hardware stores ($10). Crimp the grommet into the hole and the keyhole will not get bigger.

Use a Grombal Cymbal Grommet insert on the keyhole if you are worried about it.
Yeah - round it out (repair) and/ or use a grombal.
I will add this though - I used that exact cymbal on a CD I recorded in 1994, and listening to it, you would never guess it was such a cheap entry level cymbal. The engineer did an amazing job EQing it to sound good. I kept mine for sentimental reasons, always thinking my son might get interested in drums. Hard to compete with hockey in his world right now (12 yr old).
