Kenters, is this a deal?

I have an opportunity to pick up a Kent snare, steel student model, I am assumimg. It is a 6 lugger, has the original case. Wants 50, I am thinking I hear you guys talk of whole kits for MIJ money, so is it high? I have to drive to get the thing, like 3 hours....but it is complete and is it worth adding to the pile of snares I already have? Do these little guys sound good?

$50 is probably a fair price, however driving 3 hours for it? Thats up to you, in my opinion not worth it.

Well, I have other stuff in the big "D" that I also looking to pick up, so it would not be just for the snare. If it were just the snare, yeah, I don't think so, but since there is other stuff I am looking to score, it would be cool to have if it is a good sounding snare.

In that case, if you're going to be in the area anyway, I'd definitely check it out. Completed listings on ebay for Kent snares are all around $50, so it probably isn't a killer deal or anything, but worth checking out if you're going to be there anyways.

BTW, have you "broke the ice" on the river yet?

Late to the party sorry. Do you know if it's a single tension drum or does it have lugs? If the former, then I'd pass. I have a single tension 6 rod drum and it's okay, but very limited in it's tuning range (for obvious reasons).

If it has lugs, you could probably do more with it and it would be worth the $50.00.

The single tension drums pop up on eBay regularly, but the luggers are not as common.
