On Ebay UK very cheap - but I've never seen Kent in the UK. Terrible photo but maybe some of you experts can identify this

I can't tell anything from the photo, but assuming they're Kent drums from the States...

Kent was a small drum maker based in Kenmore, New York, near Buffalo. Their niche was inexpensive entry-level drums. Kent basically sold to the same market that the Japanese stencil builders came to dominate in the '60s and '70s. Starting sometime in the '60s and lasting 'til the company folded a few years later, Kent themselves started to import from Japan in an effort to compete with Japanese makers like Pearl and Star.

If these are American-made Kent drums, they'll have maple shells (2-ply?), no re-rings, and round bearing edges. Quality of the edges was kinda hit & miss with Kent drums, but otherwise the shells were decent. Lugs were generally sturdy, but the ones without inserts are a bit crude. The Kent-made snare strainers I've come across were pretty bad. If they're later Japanese-made drums, they're probably on par with the Japanese "stencil" drums Pearl and Star made under various names in the 1960s.

+1 on what skydog said,I will add that I hang out on Mike Dolbear site and can never remember seeing a set turn up on there.I doubt the American made drums were ever distributed there. The color on the wrap looks like a solid color and I have never seen a wrap like that on a 60's Kent, and it looks like a 70's 80's color to me.The Badges look square to me also ,which I don't think American made Kents had.

You really wanna see the badge. It could also be a Japanese stencil....late in the company, they imported Japanese shells, then they sold their name.
