Kent Snare Drum Question

Loading...

Guys, is there a replacement strainer that will fit the shell holes from an original KENT strainer?

The holes are vertical, 1 and 5/16 from center to center.

I'm restoring a Kent snare but do not have the original strainer and dont want to drill any holes in the shell if I can possible avoid it.

Anyone?

Thanks,

Retro

I don't know about Ludwig's, but the piccolo strainers that I've seen have holes about 7/8" apart. They're really close to the Kent spacing, but not quite far enough apart. If anyone knows of another strainer that would work, I'd love to know as well.

Found one at Drum Factory Direct that wil work and its only $14. The only thing is that I will have to *slightly* enlarge the existing holes in the shell. But, no new holes. Good enough for me!

Note that the holes are 1 1/2 inch apart, slightly different than the kent spacing of 1 5/16. But, to my eyes, it seems that if you enlarge the original holes a little, you will be able to get the strainer on.

But hey, for 12 bucks, you cant go wrong.
