Some discussion on these a while back but I finally got them from the owner to take a few photos so I thought I'd share them.

These are 18 7/8 inches and quite heavy weighing 2514 and 2448g's. I'm certain the initials "EFG" are of a previous owner. No word yet on who that might be yet.

Bill, the photos of the back (under) side and the "G" on the under side edge of both are new. I am wondering if you still hold that these are from the 30's. Any info would be greatly appreciated of course. They are currently not for sale.

That rectangular green region just outside the bell on the one on the left one is where the old paper label originally was:

OK yes, thanks Bill. Great pictures. I'll assume the signatures where worn off from the knot of the hand ties rubbing on the inside of the bell over the years.

Was somewhat surprised to see the G stamp. I had associated that with later K's.

Sounds like a good explanantion, and its most likely the right one.

From my experience with old K's these "G" stamps have been seen to go back to at least the Istanbul K type I old stamp era. But as demonstrated by these examples of yours, we can now see that this practice extended back at least to one earlier era.

Interesting indeed. Is it correct that only the K's were being stamped for Gretsch?
