K Istanbul, came with a Premier 60's kit, date?

Hey,

I just got this 18" K istanbul cymbal. Has a cool signature in the bell.

The inside says

18" 45 1/2 cm

JAZZ

The guy I got it from says he bought it with his 60's Premier kit a long time ago. It's not super thin, 1590 g on my kitchen scale. Could anyone date it with the logo / stamp maybe? Thanks!

that's from the early 60's. Nice. Almost as heavy as my 20". Are you Joep from the Sonor forum?

Hey!

Yeah that's me. That's for dating that cymbal, jcymbal!

I thought jazz cymbals were often thin, this one isn't, and says jazz.

Is this a good era of old K's, or is there no such thing?

I don't think there's a good era. There great ones and bad ones in all eras.

Made a small video of the cymbal for those who want to hear it. Bad (camera mic) audio, but you get the idea..

Nice cymbal...it's called a "new stamp". Looks to be in primo condition, too.

That's a $350-450 cymbal.

Also, it has the ink lettering on it (not the sig, but the series lettering). THAT is pretty rare to find, intact.

It is heavier than most 18" K's I have heard of...I have two, the heavier being only 1400g, the lighter 1200....but it was probably intended to be a ride.

Very nice find. Would be interested in seeing the A, too.
