Hi,

I've got a J.W. York & Sons 26 Inch Bass Drum from the early 1920s that came with a Leedy Snare, Leedy Pedal, Leedy Hi-Hat and other Leedy Accessories. The drum's got four lights mounted to the interior of the shell and it's got its original AMRAWCO calfskin heads in really decent shape.

The prior owner painted the wooden bass drum shell silver for some ridiculous reason. I thought that I'd try to remove the paint from the shell. It's been an extremely time-consuming task. However, the sections I've worked thus have turned out fairly well. The silver paint has been removed but, unfortunately, there still remains a type of residue or film on the shell.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a product that would remove this residue so that I can then sand and re-stain the wooden shell?

ANY AND ALL suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
