Hi,

That coke and tooth, coke and nails stuff is folklore:

http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/tooth.asp

My son and I tried it with one of his teeth when he was in elementary school. After a month the tooth was no different in size or weight, only more stained. He got a bad mark from the teacher, I got a bad mark from my son....

I use mineral spirits, mostly.

Another rust question I'll ask here as I don't think it deserves a new post.

I've got some bass drum claws - 80's Pearl - that are rusted only on the underside. After I remove the rust, what can I put on the underside to prevent the rust from returning besides paint? Vaseline? 3-in-1? My main concern is marring the nice new wood hoops I bought for this drum.

Maybe Spray them with a clear type of lacquer. Cut out gaskets from thin rubber?

Thanks Jazzbird. I thought about some type of gasket. Their shape will make that kinda difficult, though. We'll see.
