Just got this Ludwig Oyster Black Rock Duo. ..

Check out these beauties; previous owner added a couple of concert toms as you can see. It's missing some parts, so check out the wanted/trade section if you can help out!

Love the Rock Duo! Of course, a double pedal is easier to schlep around.

True that but then again a double pedal still sounds like just one drum... there is no substitute for double bass drums they rock... Love that color...

Agreed. Gotta have the two basses. That's a nice set. Gotta put some bottom heads installed on those concert toms to match them with the others. Very cool color in that double bass format. :D

Tillerva,

Something wrong with your link...Nice kit, I dig the double kicks--20 or 22 kicks?

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

The Rock Duo's came standard with 2-14x20" kicks, 8x12" and 9x13" toms and a 16x16" floor tom.

This kit has 2 20's, the original 12, 13, and 16 (and Supra), and the original owner from whom I bought them added 10 and 14 concert toms; he always played the whole set (except the floor tom) without resonant heads, but luckily he took care of them, and the edges are still good; there are some splits in the wraps though, and he did not keep any of the resonant side hoops or hardware.

I've had a hard time pin pointing when this kit was manufactured; the edges are sharp, and numbers place it in '76. However, he is SURE he bought them in '73 or 74. The 20s fall in place there, as the later set ups had 22's (you coudl probably order 20s, but they have the smaller spurs). The basses and floor have clear interiors while the others are granitone.

It also came with all the original Paiste cymbals, but every single one of them is cracked. Heartbreaker.

And yes Drumbum, I'm working on a BDP set; it has a 22x12 (that's right, 12) WFL bass, '67 floor, and early 60s 13.
