Just given this Leedy set. Info please Last viewed: 56 seconds ago

Hi!

I was just given this set, with very little information on its age or former life. Anyone want to take a stab at giving me a little information? I'm including a link to an album I posted on Facebook, so I hope it works.

I play drums, but I'm not sure I have any use for this, except as a collector's item. I know it's a Leedy set, and I'm guessing it dates from around WWII. The original owner's name was Frank Aust, and he was from the Cleveland area.

Any help -- including whether I should try to restore or sell it -- would be appreciated.

Bruce, your leedy kit is oct 1939 is the date of manufacturing, the tom is a single tension with tacked bottom heads not tuneable, the snare drum is a leedy broadway standard swingster, probably a solid shell $400.00 snare drum, the bass drum is single tension, this is a super cool kit, but the only drum really worth good money is the snare drum the single tension bass drum with the rail mount maybe $250.00 the tom maybe $175.00. the bass drum pedal maybe $50.00. does the wood block have a leedy name plate on it? Does the bass drum have electric lights in it?? the sticks are valuable, the cowbells maybe $50.00, is the color black or blue? this is a duco colored drum kit that is what the paint scheme is called I am a huge leedy fan, I hope you keep it! can you give me a picture with the top head removed and show the bearing edge, that is how I can tell if it is a solid shell or a ply shell!! I own many high end snare drums the broadway you have if it's a solid shell. may be my all time favorite snare drum hands down! this is a picture of mine! If you are Interested in selling it I'm Interested!! or I have a few kits I'm selling maybe a trade. No pressure do what ever you fill like !

Yeah, if Mr. Vintagemore doesn't want it, I would be interested in that snare.

Thanks so much for your speedy response to my Leedys...

I've posted some additional photos to that Facebook album, including the interior or the kick drum with serial numbers, the snare's bearing edge, the sticks (which I played with this morning at church)...I think that's it.

The color is blue.

I don't know if I mentioned that I was also given much of the hardware. If you want details, I'll be glad to oblige.

Still on the fence what to do about this set, but I'm leaning toward selling it.

Bruce thank you for the time and trouble, Believe me I know how much trouble it is to remove the heads and t-rods on a 28" single tension bass drum is! the snare drum is awesome, I'm Interested if you are selling the kit! thanks mark

Honestly, I don't know about the "gold" part, but it is identical to the snare you posted earlier. I hope this helps.
