Still waiting for custom made heads on the Jedson restoration, but this one's done.
This is a late 30's early 'Rogers' Daisy Brand 6 1/2 X 14 single ply with re-rings drum. I check out vintage drums for sale a lot on Ebay & other places & never see any available with these lugs. Also, I couldn't find a photo anywhere of this type drum, so this might be the only one to have been photographed. My interest in vintage drums is finding the less popular & unique drums & restoring them. Many or most of these would be not top of the line drums; this one is more of a utility drum.
The original finish on this was an ivory paint, which I stripped and repainted. All of the hardware is original, except the Speedway strainer, which I had fabricated by Adrian at ak-drums in Italy. The lugs, whick I only cleaned up an buffed, are pot metal. The hoops are steel & retain their pitts.
This was enjoyable to do - I like the 'basic'ness of this drum with it's crude looking lugs - definitely unique character.
BTW, it sounds really good - meaty with the 'vintage atriculate' dryness. But This one's not for gigging!
