Can't believe this almost slipped my mind but it's been already 35 years since that tragic day. It's amazing that so many Lennon tunes have become part of our language

Come Together

Give Peace a Chance

Instant Karma

Working Class Hero

Imagine

Power to the People

War is Over if you Want It

Etc, etc.

His first two solo albums (Plastic Ono Band and Imagine) is the best music he ever made in my opinion.

IMHO:

I am a big Beatles fan....can dig Lennon's old stuff. But his tracks on Double Fantasy blows his early solo stuff away. This is not just better production pleasing my ears better...better songwriting in general.

Meanwhile, as a person.....he was a total mess who came off as a total a***ole on several occasions.

That being said.....a very sad day ending any possibility of a Beatles reunion. On another front, a sad day as the end of chances for him to resolve past personal issues and grow into a better person. I would not be surprised if he was already making progress in this way, though doubtful that he had reached pure overwhelming personal peace yet.

All opinion here.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

HmmmmI have to disagree with your perception of John Lennon, if you listen to some of his last interviews, he was very positive and seemed totally at peace with himself.

As for his music, pratically everything he did with The Beatles was nothing short of genius. Although he had some good solo music, it wasn't quite the same.

I agree. At the end he admitted he wasn't a good father to Julian and made many mistakes. He gave up his career for 5 years to raise Sean.

Seems like a good time to start a video tribute to one of the two greatest song writers to ever live....

Imagine going back in time and befriending The Beatles at the height of their fame. Imagine seeing “the boys” interact onstage and off, hanging out with them in the dance clubs of London, visiting John & Paul at Paul’s house across from Abbey Road Studios. Imagine all the questions when they learn you’re from the future: How are records made? Will their music last? Will anyone remember The Beatles? And then John Lennon asks the biggest question of them all – “What will become of me?” That last question sets 17-year-old Lenny Funk off on the adventure of his life with a goal that seems impossible – to stop John Lennon’s assassin, Mark David Chapman. Lenny Funk is able to time travel, thanks in part to his baby boomer grandfather’s old iPod Nano which is loaded with the classic rock and roll, and pop and folk tunes of the 1960s & ‘70s. Together with his new friend Yoko (yes, she’s named after that Yoko), Lenny “time slips” backwards where he meets some of his musical heroes -- not only The Beatles but also Jim Morrison & James Taylor, among others. Lenny must make some difficult and heartbreaking decisions—should he change the course of history, or not? And what are the consequences if he does? The year 2015 marks what would have been John Lennon’s 75th birthday and, sadly, the 35th year since he was murdered.

I actually worked with a woman from England years ago, who told me she saw The Beatles at the Cavern Club. This was when The Beatles were the big group in Liverpool and wished she had gotten there autograph, but like everyone else, she had no idea how big they would soon become.
