I'm going to have the chance to meet John at the REO concert, as it turns out, John is turning with REO and he is Bryan Hyatt's drum tech. Bryan actually sent me an e mail response and told me to bring some pics of my 70 Sling set, he wants to see it, he said to make sure I meet John, man if I could get him to engrave my snare, he is under contact now with Ludwig to engrave 100 collector series black beauty snares.....the man is awesome, now sure how he got the gig to tour with REO...

John's shop is about 30 miles +/- from me. I have been out there once or twice and the work is enthralling...quite a spectacle, to be sure. Good luck with your gig, and get in the groove, brother! Keep that pocket tight...

What is the drum in the second and third pic? What kind of strainer/throw-off is that? Cool drum and wonderful work.

It's Adrian's (AK Drums) NOB Full Dress Model (FD03).

The throw-off is an AK Double Action.

I love A.K.'s work and that FD03 drum will likely be my next one or a Copper Standard S16.

John may have produced the 100th Anniversary BB, but Adrian produced the Triumphal and the NOB Standard re-issue (meaning both are at the top of the field!). If you're not familiar with Adrian's work check the link below and really look over the Restoration and Engraving tabs...

John's been a drum tech for other high-profile drummers in the past. He is a really nice guy. I told him I would treat him to lunch sometime but haven't gotten the chance to..

BTW That throwoff looks insane!
