Does anyone on here know what the late&great Jeff Porcaro used both in the studio&live with Boz Scaggs?, i.e. , cymbals, drums, heads,
On the 'Silk Degrees&"Down two then Left" albums&tours.

I'm not sure of configurations but I know he played Pearl and Paiste.
I feel like there may be a video with him on Youtube where he talks about it. For a while I was all about everything Jeff Porcaro and watched probably every video up on Youtube. I know he does talk about recording with Boz. But can't recall if he goes into kit details.
I find it amusing that he hated playing shuffles.
Silk Degrees was just so slick and cool. Sounds like it was recorded yesterday.
"Lowdown" was on the radio constantly.... still is.
I've answered this on another forum ,but Jeff basically played what was available in the studio at the time.
He endorsed Pearl, but used Yamaha recording series in the studio as well as Ludwig (Supraphonic) and a few others.
I heard Colaiuta refer to his sets as Frankenstein.
I thought he played gretsch in the studio as per a modern drummer article i read.
I recall a Rolling Stone article from the '70s that described his set as being a mishmash of brands and finishes. But he sure sounded good.
I can still hum the tune he was playing when he did one of those Modern Drummer sound sheets for Paiste. Lots of bells and effects.
