Jazzfest Sky Blue Pearl Pre-Serail 1963

Loading...

Very Nice Oct 21, 1963, pre-Serial keystone badge Jazzfest in Sky Blue Pearl.

Overall the snare is in great condition with no wrap damage. The odd scuff here and there but nothing to take away from the wrap. All chrome over brass hardware and rims. Chrome is very nice with some very light pitting but is very good 8/10 and all original. White BB bat muffler works great as does the p-83 strainer. there are two small extra holes that are hidden by the strainer. Someone had a p-85 on it. The holes are not noticeable at all.

20 strand generic snare wires.

$375 shipped to your door. Ebay feedback can be found under: proxima0220

that drum might be a super classic instead of a jazz festival. the p83 and the p85 have the same hole pattern. the super classic strainer which i think is a p87 had a different hole pattern. many times those were replaced with the more common p83 and p85. the shell diameter on the classic is also 5.5 in that year. jazz fests are listed a 5 inch but vary from 5 to 5.5. the original muffler felt would have been red for that one as well.

all that being said, it should be a great sounding drum.

Hi Poppy,

I still have the Jazzfest, perhaps "Super Classic" as has been pointed out.

by mlayton. I have a spare "Classic" strainer and will measure the shell and verify hole spacing to indeed see if this is a "Super Classic".

I know it's gone to a good home. In fact it completes a Sky Blue Pearl Luddy set.

I played it for the last time this morning, then listened to the Dave Brubeck quartet with Joe Morello on his pre-serial Ludwig silver sparkle kit. Almost cried!! There's none like the old Jazzfest!!

So many drums...so little time Violin
