Here is some pics with measurements of some vintage Japanese tension rods. They fit the RoyalStars and Bostons mounted toms and snares. So probably any pre Tama stuff. Hopefully it will be of help to anyone wanting to track some down. It's handy having these engineering tools, lol! 4.89 mm is 0.192" BTW.

After giving up trying to find all the 6MM lugs I needed for a Yamaha Road series set a few months ago,I wonder if since the threads are smaller (in some cases) than 12/24,you could set up a jig to drill and retap the inserts to 12/24.You'd certainly need a high quality"gun"tap and plenty of tap-eze.By the way,gents-1/4-20 is absolutely the most common thread pitch in America.I made a bass tension rod for a students set by taking a 12/24 T-rod and, with a threaded connector redrilled on one end to 1/4 20,joining the two in the middle and epoxying the threads. In this case only one was missing,so it's on the bottom in the back.

I also would try DW/Pacific rods-they are different than 12/24-maybe 5MM?
