I never used to put coated on my snare, but had no choice one time. I liked it and have not gone back to clear. Something about a coated head on the batter of a snare works.

Wish MD (Modern Drummer) did a more detailed/thorough interview,

Re: his equipment/gear , i.e i'd like to know WHAT brand/model/series/size&type snare drums (s) he used with EC,

I know he endorsed or was using NON -*** drums before '75&tour of Japan with EC,

But NOT know WHAT brand he's playing before Yamaha.

I saw him with Eric Clapton around 74 in Pittsburgh (EC was stone drunk) I always thought Oldaker (I recall white Yamaha's that day) used a refurbished 7x14 vintage Radio King snare with the Yamaha's ( for some reason)
