Couple months back I picked up a 20" Istanbul pre-split flat ride off E bay. I low balled it and ended up getting it for $130.00. When it arrived I was surprised by the weight, five and a half pounds, a heavy flat ride for sure. It has a glorious dark stick sound but at the same time builds up a dark tone that seems to linger on forever when I go to my other ride. It's not an unpleasant tone whatsoever, I play with jazz guitarists and there has been no complaints about the overtone. I've found half a moon gel a little in from the hole has taken a slight edge off the tone. [personally tape is not an option.] My other flat ride is a black label 2002 which is typical Paiste; glass like shimmer with incredible stick definition, I've had this one going on twenty years. Anyone had experience with a heavy flat ride similar to this Istanbul? Thanks
