Is Top Hoops Rogers?

Loading...

A potential seller has a Dyna snare and says the top hoop was replaced but doesn't know if its a Rogers hoop.

Attaching a picture, as close as I can get, and still give you enough to view.

I'd appreciate any direction...as I can't really tell the difference.

Thanks much.

Generic. What kind of shape is the drum in overall? It still might be a good deal.

Thanks for the reply.

Drum is in pretty good condition, not original throwoff, it is the elongated one from later snare. It is a low number, told something in the 7k range.

Overall, has some mild scratches, few lite dings...some pitting on lugs.

Do you think worth bothering with and if so, what should be my ceiling as far as price.

thanks much.

If the price is right, buy it. Especially if the drum if complete othewise. As for the throw........you would have to check longrolls opinion on the throw type for that 4 digit number. My Seven line is a late drum, serial in the mid 10K range. As for a replacement hoop, expect to pay 50, on a lucky day, to over a hundred on a normal day. If it was me, and I could get it cheap, I would pick it up.

Thanks.

The drum looks to be complete and original except for those couple of things.

What do you consider cheap, as cheap for a Dyna is not that same as cheap for another type of Rogers snare.

Would love to know before too late...like soon. Don't want to miss opportunity...if it is one, also do not want to overpay.

Thanks again.

That drum between 2 and 3 hundred is a good deal. Anything less is fantastic. Least ways, I think so. Other people might have different opinions.

WHEW!!!

I just paid $249 for it....think I got a good deal. Looks pretty clean, low serial number 7061, 7 line etched shell. Original and complete snare frame, all original tension rods (except 1) and a later elongated throw.

I suppose, if I can find a good one, pick up the correct clock face throw and then sell the elongated one to even cost...that way get it back to original.

Anyway, thanks for your help...much appreciated.

Here's a picture of it.

Thanks.

Thanks...tough picking up a decent Dyna at a decent price.

I know that dating Rogers based on serial numbers is more of an art than a science, but is there a way to get a fix on the date of manufacture based on the 7061 serial number?

Anything I should know about this era snare that is good/bad...e.g., style of snare frame, stick chopper style hoop, etc.?

By the way, if you happen to know where I might pick up a hoop, please let me know.

Thanks very much.
