Is This Worth It?

Hello everyone,

As you may know, I have been looking for a 14" BDP Slingy floor tom for quite some time now. I know i may regret posting this, but I really would like to know what you guys think.

I don't want to jump ahead of myself and end up not being happy with the end results. Is the painted interior going affect the drum? and what about the holes.

Hopefully no one will snipe this from me... I just kinda wanted a second opinion.

thanks,

Ron

Ron,The black paint is ok and will not affect the sound of the drum.Same goes for the three extra holes from the other leg mounts..But i think the starting bid is alittle high for the drum but them again these are hard to come by in B.D.P.....Mikey

I tried to do a do A Buy it Now for $300 and he wouldn't do. The price seems high, but I don't think i'll get anything cheaper, I mean. Even if I got a different wrapped 60's shell, and rewrapped it. I'd still be near the same price, and the wrap would be slightly different.

Dunno man - I'm a Ludwig guy myself, but seems to me that Slingys are going for a pretty comparable price these days, and I know that Ludwig floor toms, (especially 14"ers) are commanding a pretty steep price. If the wrap is a close match to what you're looking for, I'd grab it. You know these don't come along every day, and you'll end up regretting it if you don't. May take some fortitude to get through the auction, but I'd suggest preparing yourself for it. :2Cents:

Just hit BIN if you want the drum, it's only fifty bucks higher than the starting price anyhow.

I think it's in poor shape for $350 plus $25 shipping, myself........

Well, someone went in a got it before me... Sometimes being a a 17 year old and having to wait for my parents sucks. I know it wasn't in great shape but it was as close to the price range i am looking at as possible. I have only seen two or three of these in the past 4 months i've been searching. One being "Statuscymbals"...

Well, Thanks for the second opinion guys! My time will come.

Thanks for everything,

Ron

Ron sorry to hear you missed it. I guess if it's something you need and have been looking for a long time, buy first if your sure it's the real deal and ask questions later. That said it seems some Slingerland prices are going up. Under "other selections" there's a sweet 65 16" Slingy floor tom in light blue pearl for $445 BIN. It's a very nice looking tom and all but yikes $445!! I'd love to add another 16 to my kit but that's a bit out of reach for me. If Statuscymbal still has his shoot him a pm. Good guy to deal with. ;)

'He who hesitates is lost...' or something to that affect. Holds true in many things, this game in particular. See a good deal, or something you've been looking for - jump on it! Difficult if you're not of age, or experience, but it won't take long to learn. Unfortunate you missed out this time, but you're young, and hopefully patient - also this internet age makes things much more available than they used to be... but often more expensive as well. good luck with your search.

Yea, Status' drum is too much for me. It's museum quality and he was asking $750. Way out of my budget. Maybe ill find one somewhere. I'm debating just selling my slingys, depending on what they are worth.
