Is this Premier kit good?

Loading...

Hi, Im after a good vintage kit and came across this online. Anyone know what kind of premier kit it is? Apparently it's 50's or 60's. Sorry....this is the only photo there is. Any help would be much appreciated.

Could be early 1950s even, apart from the odd tom holder that is hard to see but looks like an early 60s one. This basic kit is visible at http://vintprem.moonfruit.com/ under 1950s as the Model 54. Also a 1958 catalogue can be seen at http://www.drumarchive.com/Premier/premier_58.zip and it is in there. The colour is unusual though - they did a white or a black pearl till about 64 when a darker blue pearl was added - but Ajax (another UK brand) did a similar light blue pearl to this right through the 1950s. 16" and 12" toms will probably be non-standard pre-international sizes but you can get heads from Remo. If the floor tom brackets have L-shaped thumb screws it is 50s, if they have a kind of side lever and spring to hold the leg they are later. I would say the kit looks to be in great shape and is from the best period in my opinion when Premier build quality was top and their designs were way ahead.

Yes it is! It's a beauty! Keeping it or looking to sell it?
